Traveling To Egypt During Covid-19
Starting September 1st, 2020, all United States citizens arriving in Egypt as tourists must submit a negative PCR test to the Egyptian authorities upon landing at Cairo airport, which they have taken within 95 hours of arriving in Cairo. This certificate must be written in English and Arabic and be stamped by an accredited U.S. lab. All travelers must complete a personal monitoring card upon arrival.
Alternatively, those arriving in one of the coastal governorates of South Sinai, the Red Sea, or any of the Northern Mediterranean towns who cannot show evidence of a negative test are to self-quarantine at a hotel for 14-days.
Is It Safe To Travel To Egypt?
Egypt is one of the safest countries to travel to during this pandemic of Covid 19 since Egypt has had one of the lowest infections throughout the world. Egypt is currently allowing a maximum occupancy of 50% at hotels, and also only 50% occupancy on Nile Cruise Ships. Making Egypt not only safe to travel to, but a country that will be more enjoyable, since neither hotels nor Nile cruise ships will be fully booked. Also, tourist sites in Cairo, Luxor, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Aswan, and Abu Simbel will not be as busy, hence more enjoyable with a limited amount of tourists.
